Burlington man reaches 45 days in Indonesian jail

A Burlington man has now been behind bars in Indonesia for 45 days, and his family is trying to pressure government officials to help get him released. Neil Bantleman’s family says he is being detained with no evidence and no charges while police investigate sex abuse claims involving three kindergarten students. The 45-year-old has taught at the Jakarta International School for four years, along with his wife Tracy.Although Bantleman’s brother, Guy Bantleman, has met with Canadian foreign affairs officials in Ottawa, he says they have done little to help. Guy joined CHCH News by phone this afternoon, the full interview can be heard in the video above.
